Jerry Rice called into 95.7 The Game on Monday more and once again spoke glowingly of Antonio Brown.
As he has in past appearances, Rice brushed aside concerns that Brown would be a negative influence, on the heels of his tumultuous exit from Pittsburgh.
“I know Antonio Brown,” Rice said on 95.7 The Game. “AB to me is a team player.”
Addressing reports that Brown received preferential with the Steelers, Rice suggested that was much ado about nothing, noting that Bill Walsh also extended him perks, but he declined.
“There is going to be stuff and there is going to be talk,” Rice said. “I communicate back and forth with this guy all the time. And we know exactly what he’s all about and he’s not going to be one of those guys.”
“Even if he came to the San Francisco 49ers, he’s not going to be one of those guys that comes in and really hurts this team.
“He’s not going to be a bad influence. I can vouch for him and I don’t even know if we’re going to get the opportunity to bring him here. But if we do, I’m going to be right there to mentor this guy and be around him.”
“Because the only thing he’s been talking about, he’s been talking about this forever, ‘I want to run the hill with Jerry Rice. I want to work out with Jerry Rice. I want to pick his brain and see what made him so successful.”
“So, I think he’s a great football player and he’d be a great addition for the San Francisco 49ers.”
